ABOUT

ABOUT COMMON GROUND

At Common Ground, we are dedicated to using positive reinforcement and force-free training techniques to help your pets thrive. Our approach is centered on building trust, understanding, and mutual respect between pets and their owners. We believe in creating a safe and supportive space for both animals and humans to learn and grow together. With years of experience and a deep passion for animal well-being, we are committed to making a difference in the lives of pets and their families.

Rheanna's passion for training and behavior modification began during her volunteer work as a puppy sitter for Guiding Eyes for the Blind while in college. Her interest was solidified after adopting her dog, Mia, who struggles with fear and anxiety. Through a lifelong process of learning, Mia has made significant progress and now fully enjoys walks around the neighborhood. When not working as a dog trainer, Rheanna can be found working as a veterinarian at Burnt Hills Veterinary Hospital. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, gardening, and baking.

OUR SERVICES

ONE ON ONE COACHING

Our private training sessions are customized to meet specific behavioral issues and personal training objectives. Whether you need help with obedience, leash skills, or managing fear and anxiety, we offer individualized support to strengthen your bond with your pet and enhance their overall well-being.

GROUP CLASSES

Group classes are offered at Good Choice Dog Training. Stay tuned to their website and our email list to hear about upcoming group classes!

HYBRID TRAINING AND COACHING

Hybrid coaching and training sessions allow me to take care of the foundational work in teaching new skills and behaviors. Once your dog has successfully learned a new skill, we will work together to help you maintain it effectively.

VETERINARY BEHAVIOR CONSULTS

Veterinary behavior consults are essential for dogs that may have undiagnosed medical issues contributing to problematic behaviors. Addressing these medical conditions is crucial for improving their behavior and well-being. Additionally, dogs exhibiting anxiety-driven behaviors may benefit from medications that help reduce their anxiety, enabling them to be more receptive to learning. Veterinary behavior consults are available through Burnt Hills Veterinary Hospital, 518-399-5213.

SERVICES

PRICING

During the first session, we will discuss your objectives for your dog and begin to develop and execute a training plan. Based on your goals and your dog's starting point, we will identify the most suitable service to achieve our goals.

  • One on One Coaching

    • Individual sessions: $90

    • 4 or more sessions are discounted at $75 per session

    • Sessions are generally scheduled weekly or biweekly, depending on you and your dogs needs. A minimum of 4 sessions is recommended.
  • Phone Consultations
    • $50 for up to 60 minutes
    • Tele-consults can be scheduled to troubleshoot specific training and behavioral issues, but follow up in-person training may be recommended.
  • Hybrid Training and Coaching

    • This can be a good option for dog owners who are limited on time to dedicate to training with their dog. After an initial consultation, sessions are scheduled where I will do the bulk of the training, and every 3rd session is with both the dog and the owner to transfer the knowledge and mechanics of the dog's skills to the owner. Sessions are generally scheduled twice weekly and a minimum of 6 sessions following the initial consult is recommended. Hybrid sessions are $90 per session.

Mia

Rule Enforcer

Mia was the first dog who truly spurred Rheanna's interest in canine behavior and training. With rose-colored glasses, she adopted a puppy she hoped could go everywhere and do everything. Mia turned out to have a number of fears that had to be worked through slowly and which limited her ability to experience new environments.

Cricket

Taste Tester

Cricket is the resident feisty feline. Want to test your training mechanics and timing? Practice with a cat!

Atty

Troublemaker

Atty has been with Rheanna since she was a puppy in 2022. She's a lovable goofy dog, who continues to act like an adolescent no matter her current age. She has been very different to train in comparison to Mia, as she can lose interest quickly if training sessions aren't exciting enough.

Marcy

Product Durability Consultant

Marcy is actually a friend's dog that has to be featured. Rheanna has learned a lot from Marcy - primarily the patience and empathy needed for a dog that struggles with severe noise reactivity.
